THE STORY

What awaits your team

Pop Culture is the trivia format that puts the new hire who joined three months ago on the same footing as the senior who's been here a decade. Three rounds, all eras, the meme economy fully in scope.

Round one is the classic pop quiz — which celebrity married which celebrity, who beefed with whom on Twitter, what was the song of summer 2018. Round two pulls iconic visual moments from culture (the Oscar slap, the dress, the Bernie mittens) and asks you to date the moment. Round three is the soundtrack of the era — the songs that owned every grocery store in 2010 vs. 2023.

Skewed contemporary by default but we add a 'retro' lever — pull more 90s or 2000s rounds for veteran teams, lean TikTok for the early-career hires. Two-decade range covers most working teams.

GAME STAGES

Inside the experience — 3 stages

Decade Drop

Stage 1

Decade Drop

Themed round: rank the years, name the song of summer, identify the celebrity feud, place the meme in the right month. Anchor questions for everyone, cliff questions for the chronically-online.

Reels & Memes

Stage 2

Reels & Memes

Video round: 3-second clips from viral moments — the Bernie inauguration, the Will Smith Oscar moment, Kim K crying, the ice bucket challenge. Name the moment, name the year for double points.

Streaming Soundtrack

Stage 3

Streaming Soundtrack

Audio round: pop hits from 2005 to last month, with at least three songs nobody admits to knowing all the lyrics to. Type the title in time.
